The Dreaming Therapist

Hello and welcome to the first post of my blog, The Dreaming Therapist.
First I should say that this blog is not solely about dreaming or therapy for that matter.
Its purpose is to talk and think a little bit about everything! (with a psychological angle)

As a Psychologist I spend a lot of time thinking about things.
In fact a large part of my job involves thinking about how other people think about things.   And it’s no secret that we all think very differently, thank goodness.
But at the same time we also live in a busy, fast moving and ever changing world
which often results in us not having enough space to think.

So what do I mean when I talk about thinking?
Aren’t we already doing that all of the time?!    Well, yes and no.
What I am ‘thinking’ about is the exclusively human ability to reflect on ourselves
and if willing look at our lives a bit more closely.
To put it another way, to live as full a life as we possibly can by thinking about it,
feeling it and generally experiencing what it means to be a human being
living and relating in this world.

The Dreaming Therapist aims to be a small part of that thinking space as it observes the psychology of everyday life.

"There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul".

- Arnold Bennett

Space to See is Space to Think
